‘Gapo’ to face Tarlac P in sipa takraw finals

Tarlac Province and Olongapo Team will showcase their prowess in the Sipa Takraw Championship event at Don Matias Athletic Field ,Gerona,Tarlac ,March 19,2009.
Tarlac Province defeated Pampanga in the quarter finals by decision and outsmarted Bulacan in the semi-finals, 42-31.
On the other hand , Olongapo beat Nueva Ecija in the quarter finals also by decision and over powered Bataan in the semi-finals garnering a score,42-31.
Rolando T.Gacusan,trainer/coach of Tarlac province said ,that he felt nervous and afraid of losing the game in the quarter finals because they lost in the first set.
“I lift the morale of my players until they regain their confidence and build teamwork, fortunately they did it up to the semi-finals,” added Gacusan.
“My team got nervous and talagang bilog ang bola”, exclaimed Eduardo Sombillo,trainer coach of Pampanga after being defeated by Tarlac team. The fear of Bulacan coach, Felixberto Pagala to compete with Tarlac , came true in the semi-finals.
“Medyo nawalan ng coordination ang mga players ko pero talagang ganyan and we accept it”,Pagala stated. The team that will come up winner in the championship will compete in Palarong Pambansa.

Athletes face minor health problems in CLRAA 2009

Reprinted from: CLRAA Bulletin, Vol. X, No 4, March 29, 2009 Issue Based on the medical records of the CLRAA Medical Teams, most of the athletes only encountered minimal cases of health problems for some who failed to participate in their particular game due to high fever. “So far only minor health problems like fever, coughs, colds, and LBM are recorded in our division as of today (March 17) but there are athletes with high fever who were not able to join the game anymore. There’s one case that an athlete from Morong National High School fainted and was brought to the hospital immediately. According to the doctor it was due to over fatigue.” Ms. Anita C. Perez, Public Health Nurse-Bataan Division. So far, fever, cough, colds and sprain palang na-encounter naming na mga cases sa mga athletes. Wala namang case na nadala sa hospital or di nakasali sa event because of health problems. There are coaches who experienced hypertension.” Dr. Kristin Sevilla-Bulacan Division “Usual cases namin cold, fever, headache, and toothache na very minimal lang naman. Walang na-hospitalized. After three exhausting days of action against closest rival team, Pampanga, Bataan was declared overall champion in the full body contact sports of arnis, dominating both the boys and the girls divisions of the game, in a ceremony held March 18 at the Bulwagang Kalayaan of this town, Province of Tarlac. In the Boys Division, only the provinces of Bataan and Tarlac got the slots to advance at the Palarong Pambansa in Tacloban. Tournament Manager Wilfredo “Willy” Yap identified the athletes as Dan Lee Uson, Joseph Banania and Rogelio Capili of Bataan who are all under Coach Dave Salvador. The arnisadors from Tarlac Province who will likewise compete in Tacloban are Jerry Marimla and Jordan Ramos whose coach is Ralph Santillan. Ramos advances for the third time in the nationals. In the Girls Division, crowd favorite Jaylyn Panganiban and teammates Lovely Cortez and Maribel Domingo of Team Pampanga advances to the Palarong Pambansa, with their coach Antonia Lapuz. The other two qualifiers include Jaimee Cristobal of Zambales, who was coached by Nerissa Barrera, and Carina Bautista of Bataan, who trained under Coach Wilbert Langreo. In the rankings, Bataan (1) and Pampanga (2) were trailed by Tarlac (P) and Olongapo City (3), Bulacan and Tarlac (P) (4), Tarlac (C) and Muñoz (5), and SJDMC-Zambales (6). |
